About the Social Media and Community Manager role at #WhySoSocial?

A day mainly consists of social media consultancy for my clients and how to build a personal brand.

How does your role contribute to the overall goals at #WhySoSocial?

It’s important that my clients are seen within the media as role-models as they are well-known people so their social media presence is important to achieving this goal.

How did you acquire your role at #WhySoSocial?

I built it, from contacts in previous social media management roles.

In previous roles, I worked with Manchester City as Social Media Executive and Juventus as International Social Media Editor.

“..my clients are seen within the media as role-models as they are well-known people so their social media presence is important..”

What typical equipment, tools & technologies do you use to achieve great outcomes in your work?

All of the social media platforms and analytics platforms.

What methodologies and standards do you incorporate in your work?

It’s important for me to be aware of brand image. I always read about my clients in the media to understand the best way to portray themselves in the foreground.

What’s your favourite or go to sports brands for your role in sports?

Sports clubs. It’s important for me to see what sports clubs are posting on their social channels as they may relate to some of my clients.

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to be in your role in the future?

Make contacts, never stop networking even when you are in the job.

“Make contacts, never stop networking..”

What are some key successes or personal milestones you’ve achieved in your career?

Simply, breaking into the industry. I’ve worked with multiple top-tier football organisations like Man City & Juventus.

What’s some advice or knowledge you wish you had been aware of earlier in your career?

Follow your heart and your dreams rather than following the money.

From your perspective, who are some success stories you look up to and why?

One of my best friends was once working at a very high-level successful role in Hong Kong, making a lot of money but was not satisfied.

For over a year, he saved his money to attend a Sports Management Master’s programme in Madrid. He earned his Master’s degree and now he works for one of the most successful sports teams in the world.

He is earning less money but he has followed his dream and he is happy. This is what I call true success.

Don’t be afraid to let go of what you have in order to achieve your goals.
